Visit Historic Village Herberton

Awesome place to visit while on holidays.

We spent around 3 hours here and had a lovely time. Parking is big, entry was around 45AUD and you could spend a whole day here if you read all the description signs. The tea room closes at noon. But you can have lunch on the other side of the river. The film is very informative and starts at every hour. Overall a lovely space. Dont forget to also visit the tin mine museum afterwards

Absolutely brilliant day out, so much to see and do and learn. We spent 4.5 hrs there and felt like we could have done another 4 hrs easily but it closed before we saw absolutely everything. The grounds are beautiful maintained with flower beds and manicured lawns around the big house and main buildings. Staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful.We went on a Monday and the tea rooms close at 12 noon on Monday and Tuesday, which seems a bit bizarre, right at the peak hour for lunch, why not stay open til at least 2pm? Well worth the entrance fee and the 2 hr drive from Port Douglas.

This place exceeded our expectations. Lots of great artefacts and information laid out in themed old buildings - it's easy to learn a lot if you're interested, or to take a quick look and move to the next room, so it was good for adults and children. The collections have really high quality and interesting pieces - better than some major museums. We found the blacksmith talk interesting, and he lets kids get involved. We also really enjoyed the food over the river at the pioneer eatery - the damper and beef stew were both delicious and the folks there were lovely. I would absolutely recommend this for a fun day out. I would give yourself at least 2 - 3 hours.

The best museum /village that I have seen in all of Australia.Highly recommend but give yourself at least 5 hours to look around.

This place is amazing. Yes the entry fee is a little expensive, however it can be used for 3 days. We've spent 2 days here and absolutely could not recommend it highly enough. We've done the train, the theatre and every single building. We have lunch in the Cafe and the sandwiches were some of the best we have eaten in a long time. Take the time to come and explore this little slice of Australian history.

Just had the scones with a pot of tea in the tea shop prior to entering the village.Best scones I've ever had in my life!! Tasted like they just came out of the oven...warm, soft awith a slight crust... absolutely Devine!!

This place is not to be missed. It is a National treasure. It has so many iconic items of yesteryear. A walkback in time.Some examples are Cobb and Co Coach, Model T Ford, buildings from outback miners shack to more formal timber cottages. You will need at least a full day and will want to come back for more. The vastness of items is exceptional. Lucky the ticket is a three day pass. The authentic eateries with dampers, stews and scones adds to the experience. A half hour movie with Jack Thompson narrating gives and informative brief history of the area in Herberton and surrounds. An Australian must do!

Absolutely worth a visit. This a a superb attraction, bringing to life the early pioneering days of this part of Australia with a multitude of amazing recreations of the buildings and activities of that time and also a very well produce 30 minute film of the history of this area.

Excellent, took us two day's to take in all that's on offer, excellent display of history and friendly and helpful staff. Great food and drinks onsite

We had such a great day here. The amount of things to see is incredible, and we were able to take the dogs.Definitely worth a visit!

The place is amazing

We love our historic villages - and this has to be the BEST we have ever been to. The staff at the cafes and entrance were beyond amazing, so friendly and knowledgeable. We cannot get over how pristine, loved and well kept this place is. Absolutely insane. And an extra bonus that the whole place is dog friendly?! WOW

Lots of old stuff displayed well

We had a fantastic day with family and friends, rode the train and the kids loved it, just wasnt enough time to do workshop tour and look around the station displays as well, but everything so well put together. Congratulations on an awesome experience.

A great historic village, live demonstrations of old trades, caffes and toilets. Great for all ages.

Bigger than I expected, would be hot in summer. A veey expansive collection. Demonstrations going throughout the day were great.

We got there late and missed the shows but really enjoyed wandering around looking at all the displays. Would recommend you get there early and plan a day of it. What a wonderful exciting opportunity to enjoy all this history.

Magnificent Historic village

What an outstanding place! I can’t get over how immaculate everything was, like not even a cobweb to be seen anywhere! Great fun, lots to see, fun food and people! Would happily go back again 🙂

What a great place the blacksmith is the best, great scones in the Cafe and the old cars and steam engines ,I could go on all day ,takes at least 2 days to see it all. 10 stars

We went to the Cafe only. Was a limited venue on the day we visited but it was a great little place with plenty of varied seating options and lots of interesting stuff to look at which was very nicely displayed

We were lucky to be able to tag along on a guided tourSo we gained from being able to hear about the entire history of the rise & fall of Cooktown to its present day.Very informative & worth every cent.

Amazing. Very well maintained. Incredible collections. Gives a great insight in the olden days. Almost too much to see for one day.

Extensive collections. The train was great, price excellent and parking good. Both 15yr old and 67 yr old loved it.

Great place to step back in time. We rushed our visit and could have spent a day, or two just exploring. The food smelled delicious but we unfortunately did not get time to sample it. Highly recommend a visit.

What a fabulous place to show kids the 'days of old'. Loved the chilli fruit bread and Billy tea at Pioneer. Super 30min movie showing the history. So much love and passion gone into the village ❤️

One of the better places to visit in North Queensland.Allow at least half day as there is some much interesting thing to see.
