Ben Wilson, Littmus Steampunk Band, Now or Never, JC and The Tree, Sligo and more are among some of the artists who will entertain the crowds during Pioneer Weekend at the Historic Village Herberton on May 6-7.
Offering a mix of folk, rock and country across the many live performance hubs over the weekend, the music acts have been selected to each bring something different to the stage.
The live music will be complemented by the weekend’s favourite activities including Pioneer Fashions on the Field, live demonstrations, tin panning, children’s games, blacksmithing and the running of turn-of-the-century steam powered engines and machinery.
Another highlight will be exclusive rides between Herberton Railway Station and the Historic Village Herberton on the recently opened steam train operated by Atherton Herberton Historic Railway (additional costs apply).
Pioneer Weekend at the Historic Village Herberton offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the exciting and intricate life of an 1880s Australian town.
Owners of Historic Village Herberton Craig and Connie Kimberley said Pioneer Weekend celebrates Australia’s history in a creative and enjoyable way.
“Visitors get to step back in time and step out onto a vibrant village street in a new way. Dressing up just adds to that feeling you are part of the village,” Craig said.
“We know all visitors will love the live entertainment we have organised as much as the working displays of machinery, motor vehicles and other small engines, the bush poetry, buskers, market stalls, train rides, and games for all the family.”
A sausage sizzle will raise money for the local Lions Club. Every year the Historic Village Herberton donates sausages and bread so the club can raise funds for different causes in the region.
Normal admission prices apply. For more information and full program of events, go to www.historicvillageherberton.com.au
